Explore phonics is a Flash based interactive learning environment that is aimed at children learning how to read using synthetic phonics (a successful method of teaching reading). It is a point and click learning tool made up of 11 levels which children can access online or using a PlayStation Portable. The child will point and click around each level to try and find all the phonics and once they have found a phonic, they will be taken to a learning screen where they learn all aspects of the phonic i.e. how the phonic is written, see an action of the sound that it makes, see how the sound is written, hear the name of the letter name and hear and see an example of how the phonic is used before going back to the explore screen. Once all the phonics are found, then the child is congratulated and is tested on the phonics he or she has just learnt. They continue in this level practise level practise fashion until all the phonics are learnt. They can repeat level if the parent thinks that they need more practise or children that are more advanced can choose what level they start at.
